The observatory is based in Morley, Western Australia.
All manner of objects are viewable from the light polluted suburb including galaxies,
nebulae and many other space objects.
Using specialized filters, light pollution can be filtered out
leaving the skies appearing dark enough for good visual work.
(though there is no substitute for darks skies).
Cosmotography is also conducted from the observatory
on film and CCD.
Astronomical software makes it possible to track all kinds of
man made satellites such as the space station, space shuttles
and any other interesting object.
Other activities such as comet searches or near earth asteroid searches
can all be automated using the observatory's computers. In fact the telescopes
can be accessed and controlled from anywhere in the world (via the internet of course).
